Alerts come from your own bot into a private chat, a group or a Telegram channel. You provide the bot token and the chat ID.
Steps
- Open @BotFather in Telegram, send
/newbotand choose a name and a username. BotFather replies with the bot token, such as123456789:AA…. Keep it secret: whoever has it controls the bot. - Add the bot to the group that should receive errors. For alerts to yourself, open a chat with the bot and press Start. For a Telegram channel, add the bot as an administrator that can post messages.
- Find the chat ID: send
/startin that chat (in a group:/start@your_bot_name), then openhttps://api.telegram.org/bot<token>/getUpdatesin the browser and copy the number after"chat":{"id":. Group and channel IDs are negative, such as-1001234567890. - In BugsRadar, add a Telegram channel and paste the token and the chat ID.
Test it
BugsRadar checks the token and the chat with Telegram before saving the channel. Press Send test: a test message arrives in the chat within seconds. The first real error arrives in full, and its repeats are counted in that same message: see What you receive.
Changing the bot or the chat
Credentials can't be edited: to use another bot or another chat, add a new Telegram channel and delete the old one. If the token is revoked or the bot is removed from the chat, BugsRadar turns the channel off and shows the reason: see When a channel fails.
