BugsRadar

Google Chat

Updated 11 October 2026 · BugsRadar team

Alerts are posted into a Google Chat space as cards through an incoming webhook of the space. You provide the webhook URL. Google Chat comes with the Business plan; incoming webhooks need a Google Workspace account.

Steps

  1. In Google Chat, open the space that should receive the errors and click its name at the top.
  2. Choose Apps & integrations, then Webhooks and Add webhook.
  3. Name the webhook (say, BugsRadar), optionally give it an avatar, and press Save.
  4. Copy the webhook URL: it starts with https://chat.googleapis.com/v1/spaces/ and ends with key=…&token=…. Keep it secret: whoever has it can post to the space.
  5. In BugsRadar, add a Google Chat channel and paste the URL.

Test it

BugsRadar posts a short message to the space to check the webhook before saving. Press Send test: a test card arrives within seconds. The first real error arrives as a card with the stack trace in a code block; repeats arrive as summaries, since a webhook can't edit a card: see What you receive.

Changing the space

Credentials can't be edited: to post into another space, add a webhook there, add a new Google Chat channel in BugsRadar with that URL and delete the old one. If the webhook is deleted, BugsRadar turns the channel off and shows the reason: see When a channel fails.
